Wilson b aDepartment of Infrastructure Engineering, The University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Victoria 3010, Australia b Centre for Sustainable Infrastructure, Swinburne University of Technology, Hawthorn, Victoria 3122, Australia Abstract High rise constructions featuring a podium surrounding tower walls are often favoured for the versatile functionality of the building. It is shown in this paper that the podium can impose significant differential restraint on coupled tower walls. Incompatible tower wall displacements under lateral loads were found to be the main contributor to the generation of in-plane strutting forces in floors above and below the podium-tower interface level. Shear force localisations in the interior tower wall immediately above the interface was found to be the direct consequence of these actions. Key parameters contributing to this detrimental shear force localisation in a tower wall were analysed by way of parameter studies on representative models of the building and sub-assemblages. It is revealed that the in-plane rigid diaphragm assumption commonly adopted in practice can significantly suppress compatibility forces generated within the building floor leading to unconservative design of the tower walls. Elaborate nonlinear model has been examined to showcase the consequences of understating the shear demands on these walls. 1-s2.0-S0141029616305454-main.pdf-

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF HIGH-RISE BUILDING BUNDLED TUBE SYSTEMS ABSTRACT: The primary objectives of this study are to investigate effects of varying design parameters on the tube action and shear lag behavior of a typical reinforced concrete bundled tube building, and propose optimal design approaches for similar structures. A parametric study was conducted with selected key design variables on the performance of a 41 story building. The design variables considered for the parametric study include the column depth, beam depth, column width and beam width of the moment frames. The performance of each model was assessed in terms of overall and critical (maximum) story drifts, and shear lag behavior. Overall, the effects of the column depth on the tube action and shear lag behavior were more prominent than the other member dimensions. منبع دانلود OPTIMAL DESIGN OF.pdf-

The Effect of Excessive High-Rise Buildings on Hydraulic Performance of Water Distribution Network for the City of Ahar Original Article, C08 M. Dini, S.M. Saghebian, M.J.Tizmaghze Journal. Civil Eng. Urban. 3(2): 48-55. 2013 Abstract: Regarding the population growth and city development at Ahar city, old houses in lanes and alleys of Ahar city are changing into high-rise buildings and in most of them the regulations are violated. This issue has created a lot of problems for the inhabitants. Our aim in the present research is to study the effects of constructing high-rise buildings without observing the regulations of the comprehensive city design in Ahar city on the performance of water distribution network. Thus, the hydraulic status of the network was simulated for different conditions before and after constructions and they were assessed by using Fuzzy Reliability Index (FRI), Hydraulic Benefit In Terms of Adequate Nodal Pressure (HBNP), and Hydraulic Benefit In Terms of Satisfactory Demand (HBSD). The results showed that water distribution network of Ahar city enjoyed from a good performance after the constructions being carried out. Meanwhile, this network faced shortage of pressure in some areas before the constructions and these constructions have made the problem more severe. If the present trend in constructions violating the comprehensive city design continues, the hydraulic performance of the network will be endangered because it has been concentrated in certain areas of the city. For example, the pressure in node 56 will decrease to 6.24 m. from 22.61 m. and the areal amount of Fuzzy Reliability Index will be reduced to 0.13 from 0.24.
